Ask your questions! That's what the list is here for, after all. Those who have seen it all and can't be bothered can just delete. There are usually those present who are happy to reply.

Never mind how often a question is asked by a newbie... there are always newbies joining, and how can they learn other than by asking? This also refreshes others' memories.

I have tried myself using the archives, and won't try again.

The Type 2 Transporter models known as "Vanagon" or Type 25 or T3 is a great vehicle let down by weak transmissions and weaker engines, not to mention German electrics. But like older VW Transporters, the body is great and so is the suspension, so if you like you can make it a great handler (never mind that it's a van). Want reliability or more power? Repower it... you can fit almost any engine into it (KEP makes kits), though Subaru engines are the best and most popular option (there's even a Subaruvanagon list). Other rear-engined transmissions can also be installed (but best not to look too closely at Renault or Skoda trans...).

Welcome to the list! You will find some nice people here, including some with a rather BenT sense of humor... -- Andrew Grebneff 165 Evans St, Dunedin 9001, New Zealand <andrew.grebneff@stonebow.otago.ac.nz> Seashell, Macintosh, VW/Toyota van nut
