it can be done by just adding the correct fitting to your pressure
regulator.  have it fitted with the newer type end connection and then
just go to one of the bigger lp gas places that has hose capabilities
and they can make you custom hoses for whatever you need.  I carry a
set of three different hoses for my setup that enable me to connect to
almost any lp source  if needed.  i can use small propane bottles,
standard BBQ style, or straightline.  note i also have the correct
pressure regulators for each as well.  in you situation the regulator
is already on the tank and you just need a correct fitting to attach a
hose of the correct length with fittings  to your device.
