Anybody had any experience with this? *********************** The number that most aftermarket folks would pull off the shelf would be 111-115-107BKHD (some call 'em BHD's) with 30mm gears, which optionally fits the Air Cooled 1600 72-79. Remember, the standard pump (111-115-107BK) is OE on 72-79 1600s as well as all wassers.

I run an BK pump on mine, plenty of pressure after 60k miles. For the wasser, I feel the BKHD pump is overkill. Too much pressure can just "wash" over the bearing surfaces, not sticking around long enough to provide proper lubrication IMHO. I've blown up a couple of oil filters with the BKHD on Bugs when starting cold and revving it up right away (stupid thing to do in my younger fool-hardy moments, I know).

However, if you're building a dragstrip or hi-po engine, running separate finned oil coolers and such, then the BKHD may be desirable.

I imagine the price for one is around $25, give or take.
