Not a dumb question...

It probably used to have a little metal/rubber switch on the left side of the lens that broke off...See if you can see a little sliver of metal there; if you can move it down, the light will come on.

My 87 westy has a light above the glovebox that is about 1" x 2". The bulb works & there is power to it but it never comes on. What is it supposed to be? What activates it? Thanks.
