Hi Craig, I have a new, low mileage VW Canada long block with oil pressure & Temperature gauges. Using 15-40W oil, At full hot idle with an oil temp ~200*F+, 5 psi is normal. However at highway speed(~3-4,000 RPM)with an oil temp of ~230*F, the oil pressure should be ~40 to 50 psi. Hot pressure of just 20 psi at hot higher engine speeds could indicate out-of-round con rod big ends, especially if you are already using 20-50W oil. It's important to remember that your gauge pressure is taken at the main brg oil gallery. The con rod oil pressure will always be less than main bearing pressure. You should contact Boston Bob..... Regards, John
