Dear Donna, This doesn't sound normal, most Vanagons have plenty of ground clearance. I'd check the front shocks before I had the Air Dam repaired or replaced. Beginning drivers all have a few bad luck, not thinking, showing off events. After buying more than my share of cars, pickups for my two boys I took them to a note lot and let them drive junkers and carry in $50.00 a week to keep their cars. Somehow that worked a lot better than the two million words of caution I had bestowed on them.
