Hi List, Recently my very well maintained '86 2.1L Syncro developed a severe random miss above ~4,000 RPM. It actually felt like the max rev limit cutout but the engine speed was no where near the rev limit RPM. Since "everything" was replaced at the last major service I followed my gut feeling that it was a secondary ignition leak like a cracked ign coil tower. The coil, ign wires, cap & plugs checked OK but the rotor resistance measured somewhat higher than the 2K ohms spec. Replacing the dist rotor eliminated the symptom. As an aside the rotor was "welded" on the dist shaft and had to be severly "nuked" to remove it. It's amazing how Bosch dielectric material bonds the the steel shaft in ~15,000 miles.
