Hey Craig,

What's new! this is in the contract when you buy a Westy (he he)
>>Right now my oil pressure light is flickering red at low idle and when
I'm driving.<<
Check my site at:
http://www3.sympatico.ca/huotx/oil_pressure_sender.htm
And be sure you have the right .25BAR (update from VW) between the cylinder
and the .9 BAR in the back. ALSO, PUT A OEM VW OIL FILTER!!!!!!!!!!
i bought cheap oil senders from a place!!! and they were giving me false
reading!!!!
>>I've noticed that there is some rough edges if I stick my fingers in
there and also, only a trickle of oil came out when I removed the
plunger.<<
If the core (where the plunger is located) is damage this is a problem!
It is normal to have just a trickle of oil when the plunger is remove.
(I have an open 2.1L in my garare right now!!!)
Like Stan said, sand the edge of the oil pressure valve plunger, this one
need to be smooth like hell.(or replace the plunger, its still available at
VW)
Double check all connectors to the sender and wire (check my site)
Important:
You can also ground the sender wire (.9 BAR) for the sake of a test (see my
site again) If you ground the .9 sender:
http://www3.sympatico.ca/huotx/oil_pressure_sender_overview_connector.htm
the oil light should saty OFF over 2000 RPM, if not you have an electric
problem.(thats very good!!!)
After, if you really have a low oil pressure warning, HAVE AN OIL PRESSURE
TEST DONE, PERIOD.
This is the only way to be sure that the senders are right.
If you have a low oil pressure problem, that does not mean that your
crankshaft bearing are finish, it could be the oil pump or small blocked
oil passage (not good either). But either way, if you have a real low oil
preaaure problem (except oil pump, mostly not the case) you are up for an
engine overhall!
>>The problem only occurs when the engine is hot.<<
When thats normal if you have a low oil pressure problem, the 20W50 is
quite tick when cold and take some time to get thinner
>>>I just want to drive the beast.<<<
Well!!!! we all want too!!!!
Good luck Craig
Ben
