Hello.. I am having a battery problem.. I drove my 88 7pass to Joshua Tree for a weekend of climbing and after sitting for two days it was dead.. I Jump started it and had my brother test the Voltage as we went.. 13.6v (So I assume that it is charging properly). It was charging for 3.5 hours and then this morning was dead again. Here is the kicker.. I took the battery to FLAPS and they said that it tested out ok. After they charged it over night (this was about a week and a half ago) it worked fine until dying a few nights ago. I put an ameter inline with the ground strap and the battery and tested to ensure that I would get draw with the lights on and sure enough I was getting some then I turned out the lights and my ameter says there is no idle current draw. What could be causing the battery to discharge? Could this battery be bad if FLAPS says that it tested good? Finally why would it work for a week after coming off thier charger and then die again despite the fact that my alternator is charging at 13.6v thanks tom |
