I recently replaced all rear brake hardware on an 82 vanagon from the control valve all the way back to the rear brake cylinders; all brake lines, unions, connetions, and both rear cylinders, thus my job was way more severe than yours. All I did was bleed the rear half of the brake system. I did not need to bleed the front system at all and everthing is ok.
