Since I frequently travel with a Brittany who's always clean on the way out but filthy on the way back, I bought a set of nylon/teflon seat covers from Cabelas. They protect what's left of the original shred-o-matic upholstery real well. The covers can be pulled down and around the arm rests so they are fully usable. They aren't real pretty (basically a seat shaped bag with elastic edges) but they are tough and waterproof. They also stand up to regular washings pretty well. The large bench seat cover works great on the rear seat/bed. I think I paid about $80US for the three piece set. Takes about three minutes to remove them for the wash and fifteen to reinstall -- a lot of tucking and pulling the rear belts through. I've seen them in a lot of auto accessory catalogs -- especially pick up oriented ones.
