Subject: I am having diff lock light problems - help!
In-Reply-To: <3DA867C8.3050106@mindspring.com>
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

My 1986 Turbo Diesel Syncro Multivan has front and rear differential locks from the factory - both work just fine.

The problem is the front differential lock light 'sneaks on' while driving. It doesn't come on full brightness - almost 3/4 brightness at the most. When the light is semi lit the differential lock definitely isn't on (VERY hard to steer if that happened). To make the light go off I have to engage the lock and then disengage it - then the light goes out for about 5 minutes and gradually creeps on again?

Suggestions anyone - thanks in advance!

I just drilled mine out with a drill bit that is smaller than the rivet itself. You want to drill out the center of the rivet - not make the hole bigger. Once you do this the rivet will fall away and the tie-down will come loose.
