Hi John,

It's always easy to second guess you but the key here is obvious. I don't particularly enjoy working on any of my 3 WBXs but I cannot tolerate the unreliable work performed by so-called professionals. The list is full of very sad tales of good money spent but a major failure occurred anyway due to lousy workmanship. Sometimes the poor workmanship isn't that obvious and the WBX is condemned as poorly designed junk (just ask Stan Wilder!)and the WBX reputation takes another undeserved hit. I do all my own work, replace every hose, tighten every clamp, route every wire and I DON'T do roadside repairs.

Do your own work, save money and drive with confidence. While you're doing your own work, LOOK AROUND, snoop, tug on things, question stains and signs of movement. I was very glad to read that your van didn't become a flaming comet and all the occupants remained safe. As for your emergency fix, you get the McGiver award!

Regards, John
