That is a CLUTCH Cable. Whether it's for a Vanagon I cannot say, could be. The clevis area where the clevis pin/clip attaches is the "longer" variety which looks like the 72-79 Bus style and maybe the Vanagon style as well. Vanagons sold outside of North America did have Clutch Cables (I've seen the cables) instead of Hydraulic Clutches. Where I don't know, but my Factory Parts Microfiche shows it as plain as day, VW Part Number 251 721 335, length is 151 25/32" (3855mm). Note: the fiche that shows this covers 80-83 models (very early dated). It does not show up in the 80-85 fiche nor does it show up in ETKA at all. I'd say drop the guy another line, tell him itsa clutch cable and get the overall length of it to determine what it really fits. Now he'll really be confused.
