You can take a regular old 12 volt car or truck generator and crank out
120v all day long.
Farm supply stores sell kits and also I think you can get the kits from
Harbor Supply or Omaha Supply.
These are common tools around ranches and farms if you're old enough to
remember them.
Getting regulated power is achieved through a solid state regulator that
you tune for 50 or 60 Mhz power.
