You also need to remove the rubber "boot" that protects the inside-the-door part of the bottom hinge mechanism. I don't think you can go any larger than 6 1/2" w/out removing or modifying the driver's side map pocket. I backed the woofers w/ XTC foam speaker baffles to improve sound & keep out dirt. To fit the tweeters, I removed (unscrewed) the factory speakers and pried the speakers themselves away from the plastic grilles. I then used diagonal cutters to snip holes in the grilles big enough to accommodate the tweeters and installed them in these openings. (The Blaupunkt mounting hardware allows you to angle the tweeters back towards the interior of the van for better sound.) The result is a very "clean" looking install w/ great sound. (BTW, I picked up the speakers on eBay for a fraction of retail.)
