Subject: master cylinder or pressure plate???
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

hello all...starting to have a problem with my clutch, 85 1.9L...recently the clutch pedal was on occasion getting fairly hard to push, then if i pumped it some it would work itself back to normal. now it is starting to feel like mush, like the bleeder is open on the slave cylinder type feel...so since i replaced the slave cyl. a couple months ago i am thinking the master cylinder, but it is not leaking (although looks old)and all the posts in the archives seem to indicate it is not going until it leaks. the other thing i came across in the archives is the pressure plate may be going. the way it has been degrading i expect to have no clutch by tomorrow...so can master cylinders go bad without leaking? or am i in for my first engine pull this weekend? and how hard is it to replace the pressure plate anyway? what else should i do while im in there as well? thanks for any help...
