Use the fridge on propane ---- you'll love it. FWIW I had a non-functioning fridge in a loaf (non-Westy) camper. I would seal a block of ice in two garbage bags and use the fridge as an ice box. It worked OK --- but a functioning Dometic is so much easier --- and that ice takes up valuable room.

Cheers, Doug

I have used the fridge off of DC power and a few times with the AC power in preperation for a road trip but I have never actually used the propane option. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has use ever made any modifications to simply use the fridge as an ice box still utilizing the convenient shelfs but using ice rather than power. if so, what works the best?
