   Sure wouldn't hurt...had the same problem on a MK2 Jaguar years ago
   but hey,it was British....it was designed to leak oil ;)

   The sealant VW use (as I understand it) and certainly the best stuff
I've ever
   used on engines & gearboxes goes by the brand name Curil.
   Excellent stuff,never goes hard,and cleans off disassembled parts readily.
   It should be commonly available where you are (although I can't say for sure
   since I'm on the other side of the planet) at any business that has anything
   to do with VWs

   Could be the answer to your woes...
