Another question is, "Does the amount of fuel you'd produce exceed the amount you'd burn to cultivate the crop?" This is a major problem with ethanol -- by the time you figure it all out, you discover you've burned more fuel cultivating the corn, trucking it around, and converting it to ethanol than you end up with at the end of the process!
