Thanks for the help David.

I guess you missed the fact that I was looking for help with a VW problem, not just spouting off about a product or company. I have heard nothing but negative reports about VW of Canada rebuilds in the past. After this personal experience, I was just saying that I would stay away from these in the future (if I have a choice). I just purchased this particular van, so I have no history on it's maintenance (Other than the stack of receipts 3 inches high detailing thousands of dollars in repair in the past ten years that was in the glove compartment.) So you are correct, it may not be VW of Canada's fault.

I stand corrected.

Once again, thanks for taking your time to give me helpful information (and wasting BW).

I don't know if it's 'fair' to blame VW of Canada for this. I mean, a melted piston would indicate a timing or fuel injection problem, not an internal engine flaw.
