Here we are in the 21st century, and you guys are spending thousands of dollars to get your Vanagons to be as reliable as a newer vehicle, and get real excited about 0-60 times that are sub 20 seconds.

You guys do realize that VW makes a van that has over 200 reliable horses from the factory? Oh wait, scratch that. They stopped production on them already. So now that they're not being made anymore it's ok to like them, right?

When I'm really in the mood to go fast, my daily commuter vehicle does the quarter mile in 10 seconds, 0-60 in just a hair over 2 seconds, gets 50 mpg, and even allows me to use the HOV lane. No, it's not a VW, but it is air cooled.

All this talk about fast Vanagons is highly amusing. I think we should start a racing league. Drag racing? Sure, that'd be fun. Just bring along a calendar to measure 1/4 mile times. Road racing? Ooh! How about an endurance race? 5 laps oughta do it. <g>
