A ham-fisted pilot can destroy a turbocharger engine in relatively few hours. ----------------------- Clip ----------------------- Actually if you're watching the exhaust gas temperature and you have your constant speed prop at the right setting you'll cruise faster and climb faster without much increase in temperature. Turbochargers give you the ability to fly at higher altitudes and more power at high altitude airports and short take off fields. If you look at STOL aircraft specs you'll see that they almost mandatory. All that said ................. Aircraft with abundant fresh cool airflow are considerably different than automotive applications. Automobiles will continue to run with a welded up hot side in the Turbo, aircraft start looking for a way out because of terrible loss of power.
