For the past few weeks I have been getting a tiny little grind (more of a "clunk" really) when I shift into second gear when Ursula is cold (only happens in 2nd.) It also seems like the shifting is a bit stiffer than usual. Both of these problem seem to go away after driving for 10 miles or so. It is getting cold here in New Hampshire (snowed this morning), so this might explain some of the stiff shifting issues. My first instinct is that it is time to change my gear oil, and that will take care of these issues (does 5qts of Redline MT-90 sound about right?) Any other thoughts about what might be contributing to this condition? Thanks in advance, Jay Brown '85 Vanagon Westfalia '72 Hardtop Camper http://www.geocities.com/vwcamper72 |
