I have 86 AT model and have also done this difficult task. Seems like I pushed on the rod to compress the spring. Then grabbed the end of the rod that was now protruding from the spring with needle nose pliers held perpendicular to the rod. This left just enough space for my sweetie to put the little clip on the end of the rod. Edward |
