My 85 has a small 'regurgitation' problem, as well. It's not as bad as some seem to have it, though-- a 'ploot' of a few tablespoons when the pump hits the full mark. But I don't like having dribbles of gas down my paint, and getting hit with on the shoe every so often. A couple months ago this thread came up and someone suggested stopping the pump before it hit the full/auto shutoff point and letting the air out. I've been doing that-- just wiggle the nozzle up so there's some room between it and the flap-- for a couple seconds as it approaches full, and then letting it fill the last half gallon or so on auto. And no more wet burps.
