Hi All: I have a question about the wiper motor on the 82 Vanagon. Mine does not auto park when you turn it off. It just stops wherever. I gather that the circuit that controls this feature is located in the gear box of the wiper motor. When I had the motor out to replace my windshield spray nozzles and tubes, I conducted some test to see if the internal switch on connections 53a and 53e ( I don't remember their being a connection labeled 53e) ever connected to ground as I manually moved the motor. 53a never connected to ground. Has anyone ever opened up the unit to fix the internal auto park connections in the wiper motor? What/how do they commonly fail? Would it just be easier to replace the wiper motor? Mine only has 50k miles on it and other than this problem seems fine. Any ideas? Regards, --Jeff Strickrott 82 Westy, South Florida |
