About 10 days ago I changed out my antifreeze in my '84 Westy. Got rid of the Sierra after 18 months and put in the VW blue stuff (G11) .105 Took a while to find it. This morning I glanced under the back of the van as yesterday was the first good outing the van had had since the coolant change. Ooooo... a small blue puddle under the front of the engine!! Visions of lots of work, rusty exhaust nuts etc, flash before me !!! Upon closer inspection, I found the problem. A small 3/8 hose going from the metal pipe across the engine to a cross over and bleeder pipe was seeping a little around the end. The hose was dry rotted and nasty. I replaced it for 1 dollar. It was only 18 years old too.....dont know what the world is coming to. Much relieved, Steve Cotsford |
