Subject: South African van SMOKED front turn signals install tips....
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

hey all, i just got my SA smoked front turn signals from the group purchase set up by bill kasper.. these things are cool, well worth the 6 months it took to get them :<) theyre made by hella.. only thing is - apparently in south africa, they dont use the front turn signals as running/parking lights (theres only 2 wire) like the german/US spec vanagons (which are 3 wire), so you cant use the bulb holder that comes with them. when you try to insert the us/german spec stock bulb holder (3 wire) into the SA turn signals, there is a little plastic nib ridge that is in the way.. i took a dremel and ground the tip of it off, only about 1/8", so the stock bulb holder fits in it. put the booty back on and its a snug fit. speaking about snug fits, i have the Projektzwo lower fogs/turn signal bezel setup, and boy what a feat it was trying to get those things in there.. i had to gently "forcefit" them into the bezel with the bezel in place, as the SA turn sigs have ever so slightly different mounting tabs than the stock german amber lenses. anyway it looks really cool. i left the white bulbs in there rather than going with the amber bulbs provided in w/ the smoked lenses. it throws out more light and looks better thanks bill!!!

chris
