Subject: Size of allen wrench for final drive?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hello volks,

So it seems that maybe my seal from the differential to transmission is leaking and the oils are mixing as well. I want to check my gear oil level in the final drive before I have to take my van on the road to get to the VW mechanic. My tranny fluid is all good as well as my engine oil level. What size allen wrench do I need to use and what type of gear oil? Do I just use a funnel and fill in the hole there? I just hope that I don't do too much more damage before I get to the mechanic - unfortunately I don't have a choice living out in the middle of nowhere.

I also have a recurring engine oil leak problem going on that maybe one of you can shed some light on. I've been seeing a small drip coming from the pressure relief valve. So I replaced the valve, the spring, the gasket, and the plug. Gave the ol' boy an oil change and new Mann filter. It seemed to do the trick, but now after a couple of weeks and a drive across the state, its leaking there again. Any ideas? Should I be looking somewhere else on the engine as well? If my oil cooler has failed would that cause too much pressure build up in the engine? How do I know if the oil cooler is working properly?
