Yep, ToothPaste is a very fine abrasive for cleanup and polishing many things including plastics like plexiglas and lexan.

Need a hole through glass? Here's a little trick for you.

Get yourself and electric eraser - the kind used by draftsmen. Install one of the erasers which have a little fine grit. Apply toothpaste to the surface of the glass. Turn on the erasure, press the spinning rubber tip against the glass through the pile of toothpaste. Stop once in a while and smear the toothe paste back over the spot where you are running the eraser. Keep this up and eventually you will have a hole through the glass. Handy if you are trying to run a tube into an aquarium or something.
