Subject: replacing the waterpump, opportunity to replace hoses
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

If you have already replaced your waterpump ignore this post, If you think it is a job you want to attack please read on. I looked at replacing the waterpump as a chance to replace a few more hoses. I will try to do five post before I leave on a cruise for mexico. The van is out of commission but waiting for one other hose I hope to order from busdepot. Hope to have them when I get back from mexico. I orered two hoses to address the issue of the oil cooler. Question one, what third hose should you replace when doing the oil cooler hoses? This is the one I am ordering that has held up the job. The answer will be at a later post. This post is just making one point. When doing the waterpump(for an 87) you could remove the distributer or you could remove the crankshaft pulley but do neither and remove the bumper, the plate cover and the overflow tank so you can access the pump from the nice rectangle void made avaible from the plate. Line of sight and line of access is worth the effort and is easy to do. Also remember to do the obvious. Spray all the screws, bolts and clamps that you will be removing with something of choice. post one of five, extra points for the guy who can tell me which hose I failed to order for the oil cooler circuit, gary
