I worked on one of my sliding window screens over the weekend.  The
original screen was  loose around the one corner and the frame was a little
warped.     Evidently the screen pulls pretty hard on the frame and when
one corner comes loose, it torques it pretty badly.  Heating it in the oven
really warped it!   I ended up ripping out the screen material completely.
The frame was then pretty easy to flatten out.  I used new fiberglass
screening glued in with DuCo cement.  I glued down the one side and let it
dry before pulling the screen across and gluing the rest.  I just used
masking tape to hold it in place while it dried.  The new screen isn't  as
tight as the old one, but it doesn't put any extra stress on the frame
anymore, either.

I also filed down the two tabs that are on the bottom of the frame about
1/8".  They appeared to be slightly wider than the notches in the metal
window frame.  It is much easier now to install and remove the screens
without any fear of breaking them.
