It is my understanding that Frank Grunthaner has an engine with two oil
coolers on it.
He measures the temp going in and out on each one, in addition to oil
temp from possibly two more locations.
I think this is an experiment for him rather than normal practice.
I also believe that you can find this report in the archives.
When I want to know the real temperature on my Type IV air-cooled I put
two drivers side wheels on a curb or park on an uphill incline them
measure the temp through the oil fill pipe with a candy thermometer
dropped down the tube.
I don't question the new temperature measuring devices ............ I
just don't want to waste this good $3.29 candy thermometer.
