Ed:

I got a couple of these boots from Cal Imports - they had 3 in stock at the time - so I'm not so sure they're "NLA" as much as VWofA has just stopped importing them. Try calling up vendors instead of just using the web pages as I couldn't find the boots on the Cal Imports web site. That said, I don't think the boot has much to do with the shift rod coming off the guide pin. Sounds like either maladjusted front shift rod/gearshift lever setup or perhaps some problem with the relay lever at the trans? ---------------------------------------------------------------- Tom Young '81 Vanagon Lafayette, CA 94549 '82 Westfalia ---------------------------------------------------------------- ----- Original Message ----- From: "ed maikranz" <fasteddy64@YAHOO.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Monday, October 28, 2002 4:10 PM Subject: Shift linkage troubles
