Thanks for the info. I'll go look in a few days when I have the time, but is my situation of the left side plugged and the right side unplugged correct? If so I suppose I should see right side overhead vents?

As I looked at it, it seemed that the plate blocking the air flow was held on by just one screw. It looked like maybe the right side vent has also been plugged in a similar fashion (faint outline in the shape of the plate was on the pillar) but the plate was no longer there.
