This might be a speaker wire shorting out, especially if it is more likely to cut out as you turn the volume up.

Anybody ever have their radio's sound cut out intermittently? Mine will just decide to stop playing after about an hour or so. Then if I turn it off and then back on again, it's fine for a bit, but then cuts out again. I can repeat this a while until it just won't come back on again. The display acts as if nothing's changed and it's still playing, so I don't think it's a radio issue, and probably a wiring issue. Anybody had had this specific issue before?
