the boot is easily manufactured.... get a bicycle inner tube, pair of
sissors and two zip ties and 2 13mm wrenches, rag and grease.  squirm
under the bus, unbolt the shift linkage where it attaches to the tranny,
clean the ball and socket, grease her up really good, cut an appropriate
hunk of inner tube and slide it over the socket and scrunch it down pretty
far. Not put the socket back in place, rebolt up the linkage. Slide the
innertube back over the ball and socket joint and zip-tie it in place-
above and below the ball and socket.  Works great.
