The entire instrument pod with tach easily replaces the earlier one by rearranging wires in the connector and adding a wire from the coil. It is much more difficult to adapt the circuit foil to install a tach and gauges where the clock was. It would certainly keep you entertained for a while. <g>

I've used a Sun tach with good results, mounted on the instrument panel cover. I put a connector in the wiring so I could unplug the tach when removing the panel cover, worked well. The built-in tach is a really nice one though, with a clearly indicated band where the engine develops good torque -- nice for showing someone not well attuned to the vehicle how to drive up hills with it. Of course the analog clock is a really nice one too. In the newer panels it's replaced with a small digital clock at bottom center -- also nice.

If I get any nicer I think I'll throw up... <g>
