More useful than the inside mirror! I'm 6' tall, so the inside mirror gives me an excellent view of the pavement up to twelve feet behind the van. I can see tailgaters, my smoke plume, and anything I've just run over, but that's about it. ;) Those big flat outside mirrors are handy when backing.

I'll have to try the fresnel lens someone else mentioned. I have to wonder, though...if it's held on by the vacuum created by applying it with water, won't it fall off in the winter when the water freezes and expands?

I've had the 2" stick-on ones on every van I've owned. They're very helpful for lane changing. I stick them on the inside corner, where they don't block the view of anything important in the main mirror.
