In the US and possibly Canada too (to the best of my knowledge) the Transporter tag was only applied to the vehicles with pick up beds, aka Single Cabs and Double Cabs. The Passenger van and Camper models were Vanagons, not "Transporters". Else where in the world different rules apply (and did apply). I don't know if any of the commercial Vanagon vans (no windows in the rear) were ever brought in to North America. No doubt they would have been "Transporters" as well. |
