Well I don't mean to turn this into a Rabbit/Golf board, but by far this has been the best place on the net for information. I am continuing to work on the never ending 86 Cabriolet. I just got it running over the weekend, and hopped in it to take it for it's maiden cruise (just put a used engine out of a 91 with 78K on it - car took a left front hit, I did have to install a brand new cylinder head due to the fuel injection differences) idles strong, good power. Got a half of a block, heard a relay click, and then the oil light started flashing. Turned off the car, waited a couple of minutes, and started it back up. Idles fine, but once you keep a sustained higher RPM, a relay clicks and the oil light starts flashing. Turn off the engine, turn it back on and no flashing oil light. Tack up the RMP and hold it for a while, and it starts blinking. I will try a new sending unit tommorow. I am running 10W40. Any other idea's/comments?? Thanks. Michael Brenner |
