Ya know, I've not been reading all of these tiico comments, but think that there muxt be a legal way around this crap! as a fellow Californian, I am frustrated by our inane laws re autos... My friend Joe bought a tiico engine and kit, but was afearin' the carb people, so the engine is sitting in the back of his range-rover waiting as well. Last month we were picking up parts for the #3 westie, and found a diesel vanagon with a 1.8 wabbit engine and grabbed that one as well. for now we are going to install that one and just wait until we can either get a turbo deisel vw engine here, or bring his '89 jetta turbo diesel here from toronto, than he wants to sell teh tiico. I dissagree and think that there has to be a loop-hole. has anyone actually sat down with carb and checked what has to be done? the engine is soooooooo close to the us engine. there has to be a way. good luck

Paul(happy with a '80 airhead!) ;-) but will eventually do a deisel turbo deisel as soon as I can find a nice diesel westie with a dead engine.
