The paint code should be on a paper sticker on the metal just below the fuse box near the steering column. I went to Maco and they have paint chip books all the way back to the old rabbit colors and probably older so try there, that should get you the correct code. That's what I do when I need to do touch up on an older car and the code is missing. I do mobile paint/interior/dent/windshield repair part time, but I only have paint chip books back to 1992. My microfiche goes back to 1960 but there is no easy way to search for a specific year or model of car on them.
