Subject: head replacement details, nitty gritty
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Hello Faithful Vanagon owner, thanks for reading my posting. Now here is the meat of the matter. When replacing the gaskets around the cylinders ; is it wise to change the gaskets at the base of the cylinder sleves(by the base i mean the side of the cylinders toward the block not at the head ) I understand by Boston Bobs article on head replacement that if you are not careful pulling the heads off and making sure that the sleeve is not stuck to the heads you will pull it past the piston rings and that this is not fun to do.(that being said) Is it something that if it aint broke dont fix it . Do the gaskets at the engine block side of the sleeve need changing or is it better to just leave it alone and save yourself the hassle of removing the pistons. Respectfully Raul '89 wolfsburg
