Ben,
   I am hoping not to change mine so frequently.   I
had a problem like that on my audi until I figured out
that I was overtightening the belt.   My rule is the
belt should slip occassionaly on startup when the
alternator is on its heaviest load.   Then you know
that the tension on the belt is minimal.   A bad
alternator bearing can also destroy a waterpump so you
may want to replace both when the bearing goes bad in
the alternator and replace that coolant every two
years as there is lubricant in the coolant.    gary
