Subject: anyone put a locking diff in a 2wd?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

So, it looks like I'm gonna need a rebuild, after taking the ol' tranny out and fiddling around with it a bit. If anybodys counting, I posted last week about a rhythmic knocking coming from the transaxle/clutch, corresponding to a "sticky" spot in the input shaft rotation. It went away when I took off the gear carrier housing (the part of the case opposite the bell h.). Darrel at AA thought it was due to pressure on the main shaft. So, its off to him this week.

He says he can put in a locking differential (I guess it would need a new case, too). Anyone have any experience with this? Seems like it would be the next best thing to a syncro, with the independent rear susp, andall. Or is it just another thing to go wrong?

Seems like a couple weeks ago someone posted about this being available commercially sometime soon, but I couldn't find the message. Anyone?

Happy to hear all reviews, opinions, heresy, arguments, prophecies, and drivel.(well, except the drivel)

Cheers, Jeff Bisbee, AZ
