Subject: alternator question
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Howdy all, I have some vibration and noise in my engine compartment. I think I may have figured it out. The question: How much side to side play should there be in the alternator? I was fiddlin' around with it and noticed that there is a tiny bit of play. I don't even know that it is enough to measure, but it is there and you can hear it tapping as you move it.

I'm assuming this is a bad thing, but I look to the list to verify this. Also, will a rebuild fix this, or am I looking at a new one or another rebuilt one? Thanks to anyone who answers.
