Subject: Re: dropping engine and auto trans at the same time?
Comments: To: Raul Lince <eeore37@HOTMAIL.COM>

Raul,

I haven't dropped the engine and tranny at the same time, but have installed them together. Having installed a couple engines and three or four trannies (all manual), I can easily say that it was MUCH easier to put them both in at the same time.

The trick was to use big ol' 6 ton jackstands under the rear jack points and get the van wa-a-ay up in the air so that we could put the engine/tranny on a furniture dolley and slide it under the van. Worked GREAT.

We are wondering if >it is fesable to drop the enige and the transmission at the same time on an >89 vanagon. I have to do transmission work and engine work for convenience >ive considered dropping them both at once . Anyone ever done this before . >I suspect that it requires us to skip any of the separation crap and just >unbolt them at the same time. Any heads up that some of you have >encountered. As always respectfully Raul
