Subject: extra long map pocket

Hey folks,

as I was grabbing some amber side running lights (to use as side turn signals) off an older 1984 rabbit (thanks for the information on them), I came across a 1982 Audi 4000s.

I decided to peek inside, and found that the map pocket on the the front l/r panels are exactly the same height as the vanagons, only 4 or 5" longer!

I pulled one, and sized it up to my vanagon map pocket and found the screw holes on one end match exactly. Woo hoo. I then placed the longer map pocket up to my vanagon door, and it looks like it will fit on the drives side easily. The rear of it will position itself, just under the driver side door grab handle. Perhaps this is old news to the vanagon list, but I am happy I have more storage space.

I also eye balled the passenger side door, and it looks like it will fit too, even with being set back, for the glove box door to clear it.

It's even vw brown, so it matches my interior.

Total price for 2 amber side reflectors (exact match to the vanagons) and 2 map pockets, = $10.00 at my local U-pull-it. I was on my lunch hour, so I didn't have much time to look around, but there are a lot of Audi's there that can be salvaged from.

I look forward to installing these when I get the time.

Just thought I would pass it on (fotos to come when I am finished)

Cheers & Happy Friday

Dave :) ___________________ dave bowers 1986 westy "hms-beagle" portland, oregon www.dave-bowers.com/vw
